Junk (Asian Zombie Series pt 2)

Ive heard Junk (aka Shiryo-gari) referred to as a poor man's Versus. I understand the comparison but Junk is a pretty fun lil film in its own right. I originally bought this on VHS from Reckless 4 or 5 years ago but the tape was broken. I was thrilled when I ended up getting it on DVD from my fiance for Valentines day. Jam packed with homages to a plethora of american & italian genre films including Zombie,Re-animator,Aliens,Dawn of the Dead, & Reservoir dogs, Junk brings plenty of gore & explosions to the screen. Filled with undead shuffling out of Lucio Fulci's Zombie brought to life by the glowing green liquid from Re-animator vs the military and the mafia imitating scenes out of Aliens, Atsushi Muroga truly brings the rock! So screw all the negative ish you heard bout this title. If your a genre fan, asian zombies in particular, give this flick a chance...dont be an asshole.

The Fourth Kind

The Fourth Kind. I have mixed feelings about this film. On one hand I thought the "real archival footage" was stupid and EXTREMELY fake & the split screens were an awful idea that did not work. On the other hand I feel the movie contains one of the SCARIEST abduction scenes ever put on film. Overall I recommend you see it for yourself and be the judge. The film plays itself as if it were intermingled with actual interviews with abduction victims, but the footage is obviously faked. Another thing I didnt like is how aware the film makes you about the actors portraying "real" people. From the beginning there are an abundance of subtitles that say "Mila Jovovich as doctor Abigail Tyler" and so on. The abductions, however, are really fucking creepy and there is a few hypnosis sessions that get really freaky. As far as I know, there were many disappearances in Nome,Alaska but none of them were connected with alien abductions. So that is were the film gets the whole "Based on actual case studies" from.

overall- Kinda of stupid/Kind of scary
