The Curse

Ive been on a recent kick of H.P. Lovecraft film adaptations lately. Luckily Movie Madness has an H.P. Lovecraft section. This little film is an adaptation of the story "The Colour Out Of Space", starring Wil Wheaton(Stand By Me, Star Trek: The Next Generation) & Claude Akins!  I was surprised to see "Louis Fulci" attached as producer of this film. Being a massive Lucio Fulci fan, I automatically gave this flick some points. In the end it doesnt really deliver, but there are a few nice atmospheric moments along the way. Although its worth a watch for the sole fact that this is one of four films that Fulci produced. Its one of the only reasons I reviewed this title. The basic story line is that a meteorite lands on a farm and shrinks inside the crater oozing out a liquid that makes crops large but not edible. The sickness eventually infects the family. Not necessarily highly recommended ,but worth a watch if your a fan of H.P. Lovecraft & Lucio Fulci.

H.P. Lovecraft's The Unnamable

Aaaaah yes, yet another unattainable horror film from my childhood has been conquered. Though not a masterpiece by far, Unnamable does manage to get a good amount of creepy atmosphere on to the screen. The acting is straight farts and quite funny because of the fact. Th story starts when Whats his face, Some Guy and That other dude are sitting around talking about the legend of the Unnamable. What his face doesnt believe its true. Some guy believes it to be true. Whats his face aims to prove him wrong by staying in the actual house the supposed events occurred in. He doesnt show up at the dorm the next day. Que the rest of the movie.

Dan O'Bannon's lost gem: The Resurrected

The Late Great Dan O'Bannon, director of cult zombie classic Return of the Living Dead and writer on films such as Alien, Total Recall, Screamers,Bleeders,Heavy Metal,Lifeforce,Dark Star & Dead and Buried, brings us hands down one the best film adaptations of H.P. Lovecraft to date. Chris Sarandon plays Charles Dexter Ward bringing the goods just like he did in Fright Night, while O'Bannon keeps the atmosphere brewing. This is a must see for H.P. Lovecraft enthusiasts,Dan O'Bannon fans, and zombie fiends. Oh yeah, and theres some awesome stop motion animation...enjoy!
